"The woman had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him in the crowd and barely touched his clothes. She had said to herself, "If I can just touch his clothes, I will get well." As soon as she touched them, her bleeding stopped, and she knew she was well" (Mark 5:27-29).
Expectation is the gateway to manifestation (Romans 8:19). Just as you cannot demand from life what you did not give to life, you cannot have manifestation without expectation. To be expectant is to look unto God for the release of whatever He has promised us in His Word (Psalm 34:5).
The account in Mark 5 about the woman with the issue of blood reveals to us on how to be expectant. Jesus was on his way to the house of Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue who had requested that He come to heal his sick daughter. On the way, something dramatic happened. A woman who had had enough of sickness and was desperate for answers touched Jesus and got her miracle. The lesson from this scripture is that when you say yes, God will not say no. In other words, your expectation will inevitably give room to manifestation.
Note that the woman with the issue of blood had suffered at the hands of doctors for twelve years and that her case grew worse by the day until she encountered Jesus. For her, enough was enough. Jesus was passing her way that day and she made the decision to seize the moment. She said to herself, “If I can touch just the hem of His garment, I will be made whole.” Don’t forget that there was a crowd and many people were also touching and pushing Jesus. But beloved, her touch was different. It was a touch of faith. She came to the Lord with great expectations and she was not denied.
When you are truly looking up to God for something, you need to go to Him with expectations. Begin to see the healing, the new job, the new contract, or the breakthrough even if nothing has manifested yet. When you come to God with expectations, you are demonstrating your faith. You are simply agreeing to all that God has packaged for you. Mary said in Luke 1:38, “Be it unto me according to thy word.” That is, she put the responsibility of seeing the prophecy come to pass squarely on God.
Conclusion: I challenge you today not to allow anything to make you disbelieve God. Understand that He is not going to do something but that He has already done everything. Your part is to believe and thank Him for your miracle (Proverbs 23:18).
